Proficiency Points ▼
Proficiency points are earned by placing in competitions. Once you have achieved 7 points in a given dance at a level, you are no longer allowed to compete in that dance at that level.
Points are awarded based on your placement and how many rounds you danced. Higher placements in later rounds earn more points.

Ranking Points (RKS) ▼
Ranking Points (RKS) measure performance in open-level multi-dance events (Novice, Pre-Championship, Championship) at collegiate competitions. RKS are used for the Footfall scoreboard only and do not affect competitive eligibility.
How RKS Are Earned
- Couples Outplaced: You earn RKS for each couple you outplace.
- Novice: 10 RKS per couple outplaced
- Pre-Championship: 30 RKS per couple outplaced
- Championship/Open: 100 RKS per couple outplaced
- Win Bonus: 1st place earns a bonus equal to the per-couple value (doubled if the event was contested, i.e., more than one couple in the event).
- Participation: +2 RKS for every open event entered.
What Counts
- Only multi-dance events (2+ dances) at non-affiliate competitions are counted.
- Single-dance events and syllabus levels (Newcomer through Gold) do not earn RKS.
Nightclub Points (NCP) ▼
Nightclub Points (NCP) rank dancers based on performance in nightclub dance events. NCP are used for the Footfall scoreboard only and do not affect competitive eligibility.
Eligible Events
- Dances: Salsa, Bachata, Hustle, Merengue, Argentine Tango, Blues, Lindy Hop, West Coast Swing, Polka, Night Club Two-Step
- Levels: Intermediate, Advanced, Intermediate/Advanced, and Open
- Not eligible: Beginner and Newcomer nightclub events do not earn NCP
- Not eligible: Affiliate competitions do not award NCP
How NCP Are Earned
- Couples Outplaced: 10 NCP per couple you outplace (Intermediate, Advanced, Int/Adv, and Open only).
- Win Bonus: +10 NCP for 1st place (doubled to +20 if contested).
- Participation: +2 NCP for every eligible nightclub event entered.
Both single-dance and multi-dance nightclub events are included.
